End of Year Examination: Wednesday October 26th (Confirm when VCAA exam timetable is published.)Assessment SACs (Outcomes) are compulsory and students must attend scheduled SACs. Any student absent must provide a medical certificate to their teacher who will then reschedule the SAC at the earliest convenience for both parties.Failure to comply with the above requirement will result in the student still having to sit the SAC, however, the student will receive a UG for the task but can still achieve a S for the Unit concerned. Please see 12englishwhi.wikispaces.com for many materials for students to access.
Above are materials from VATE conference. Below is the wiki of the speaker. On the page for Rugmaker are lots of sample pieces

Important Information
Notice to Schools 28/2012 - 21 March 2012
Online Marking: 2012 VCE English examination
Principals, VCE Coordinators, VCE English teachers
Main Points
The VCAA has been expanding the use of online marking technologies for VCE examinations since 2008. The GAT writing tasks, English as a Second Language, History Revolutions and several other examinations are currently marked online.
In 2012 the VCAA will introduce online marking of the VCE English examination.
There will be no change to the format of the examination question book and students will continue to provide written responses using pen and paper; however the three script books will be replaced with a single answer book.
Revised examination instructions and a sample answer book will be published on the VCAA website during Term 2. Schools will be notified when this material is available.
Conflict Activity from STOL
Feel free to use this if you wish…
Today in English, I had everyone doing mini-debates in groups, on the following topics.
Conflict is unavoidable in the quest for knowledge.
It is wisdom, not cowardice, that causes some people to back down from conflict.
When those who oppose us refuse to recognise that we are right, even in the face of indisputable evidence, there can be no resolution to conflict.
If our opponents are in a position of power, we can only resort to rebellion and revolution.
Knowledge that threatens the happiness of others should be kept from them.
All of the above ideas are potential practice Context Study prompts, and you may notice that they all relate to “Life of Galileo”. By participating in the activity, it is intended that students will realise (or at least be able to understand) how these prompts can become the basis of a persuasive piece for the SAC, and how all the varied perspectives offered up in the debates could be combined to form an expository piece.
It only takes a period, and I find that the kids got into it. They didn’t write down each other’s ideas as much as I’d have liked, but otherwise I think they got a fair bit out of doing it.
